BISEL-LINK CD-ROM GTB63
Setup instructions
for PC's running Windows 2000, XP, Vista and Windows 7
THE SETUP PROCEDURE MUST BE DONE ONCE FOR EACH NEW CD-ROM RELEASE!
INSTALLATION OVERVIEW
During the setup procedure, the installation wizard will prompt for an installation type of either STAND-ALONE or NETWORK. Stand-alone is the default choice and is for installation on a local machine such as a laptop or desktop computer. Stand-alone installation should be used in most cases. Administrative privileges are required to run setup.exe.
STAND-ALONE INSTALLATION
Stand-alone installation offers three options:
1. Copy all contents of CD-ROM to the local hard drive. This option offers the best performance. The CD is needed only when accessing the LICENSE UPDATE procedure when it is run after installation.
2. Copy the Folio Views program to the local hard drive but leave the publication infobases on the disk. This option provides better performance than option 3 below.
3. Run from CD-ROM; program and infobases remain on the disk. This option requires the least amount of disk space and performance is slower than the above options.
In options 2 and 3, the Bisel-Link disk must be seated in the CD-ROM drive during use to access the publication library.
Running Setup...
Insert the Bisel-Link CD into your CD-ROM drive on your system. The setup program should start automatically. If it does not, choose Run from the Start menu and type x:\setup.exe (where x is the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive).
Follow instructions on the screen but make sure to choose Stand-Alone on the Installation Type screen. Generally, accept the defaults.
You will need your passcode(s) at hand to enable the license for each of your subscribed publications. You must activate the license for at least one title to complete setup. The passcodes for your licensed titles are listed on the invoice enclosed with your Bisel-Link CD-ROM.

ADDITIONAL TASKS TO COMPLETE NETWORK INSTALLATION
Make the Bisel-Link folder on your server available for shared access on your network. See information below.
Note: Network installation copies the entire CD-ROM to the server drive. The Bisel-Link disk does not need to remain in the network server's CD-ROM drive. It is needed, however, when running the License Update program and therefore it should be kept near the server in the event your license needs change after installation.
During Network installation, a setup file named CLIENT.EXE is created in the Bisel-Link folder on the server. This is the setup file that each workstation must run to access Bisel-Link on the server.
WORKSTATION INSTALLATION
Make sure the above network installation has been done on the central server.
From each workstation that intends to have access to Bisel-Link, navigate to the Bisel-Link folder on the server and run CLIENT.EXE. (Client.exe is created during network installation and is written to the Bisel-Link directory on your server's hard-drive. It will not be found on the CD-ROM).
The workstation user must have Power User or Administrator privileges. Client.exe needs to be run from each workstation that intends to have access to Bisel-Link. Client.exe will create a program group, optional desktop icons, and add registry entries to store path information and user interface settings for the Folio Views software. In additional, Folio Views is dependent on Microsoft's Visual C++ 2005 Runtime libraries (i.e. MSVCR80.dll) and an option to install this package appears when running Client.exe. The Folio Views software itself is not installed on the workstation machine.
Once Bisel-Link is intalled on a workstation machine, there is no need to run Client.exe again even after the network server has been updated with a newer release of the Bisel-Link CD-ROM.
